HUMANITY MARCH
(Sunday, August 8, 2021)

People In Need held our first annual Humanity March 2021 and Youth & Community Street Fair! The two events took place on Sunday, August 8th during the Newkirk Open Streets at Newkirk Avenue & Argyle Road.

We wanted this day to bring together our diverse community and our causes and celebrate our ongoing work and our milestones, and to come together in support and solidarity for our Brooklyn siblings. This pandemic has inevitably exacerbated the ongoing strains on our most vulnerable groups and we want to offer our fellow community leaders and organizers a platform to spread awareness and inform the people about their work and the fights we all need to join.

The march began at Newkirk Ave & Argyle Road and we walked together to the Brooklyn Public Library - Cortelyou Branch, and then back to Newkirk Ave. After the march, different community organizations and some elected officials gave short speeches on their work as well on the topic of our collective humanity.
